Breaking in
It is important in every step of the starting process that the horse learns to accept everything they are taught, not just to tolerate it. Every horse that comes in for starting under saddle/breaking in is different and therefore the time needed for each horse varies. It is important in the first few days the horse learns to trust the human on the ground and this is where the commination begins.
Reining Futurity Program
This year is dedicated to training, education and building a strong foundation. Having experience training lots of futurity horses allows you to know when they are ready to be stepped up in their training, they are all different in both physical and mental maturity. It is important to push them to increase their strength and progress their education but always keeping them sound, relaxed and confident in the mind.
Reining Training
If you plan on showing your horse yourself, John encourages you to come for regular lessons while your horse is in training. If you live interstate John can send you a DVD of your horse’s progress and feels it is important for you to book lessons before you take your horse home. If you’re not sure of your horse’s ability he can also tailor a program to assess your horse.
Training & Booking
John takes in horses for Breaking In, Re-education and Reining Training. Every horse is individually catered for and the time needed for each horse depends on the client’s goals. Towards the end of the training time John encourages the owner to watch some of the training sessions. He also encourages all owners to get at least a few lessons before they take their horse home.
